I know it's been forever, but I saw a quiz on jedipanchan's LJ that I just had to make. See which quotes you recognize!

1. Pick 10 15 of your favourite movies. (I definitely couldn’t choose just ten!)
2. Go to IMDb and find a quote from each movie.
3. Post them here for everyone to guess.
4. Strike it out when someone guesses correctly, and put who guessed it and the movie.
5. Hey you! No Googling/using IMDb search functions!

1.) "It's not personal Sonny, it's strictly business."

2.) "Ernest Hemingway once wrote, 'The world is a fine place and worth fighting for.' I agree with the second part."

3.) "Rehabilitated? It's just a bullshit word. So you go on and stamp your form, sonny, and stop wasting my time. Because to tell you the truth, I don't give a shit."

4.) "How do you shoot the devil in the back? What if you miss?"

5.) "Friends, you bow to no one"

6.) "You hear me talkin', hillbilly boy? I ain't through with you by a damn sight. I'ma get medieval on your ass."

7.) "They said it was a million dollar wound, but the army must keep that money 'cause I still haven't seen a nickel of that million dollars."

8.) "You look like the kinda guy that would beg for sex. I should now, we can smell our own."

9.) "Is it true that if you dont use it...you lose it?"

10.) "If I'd been drinking out of the toilet, I might've been killed."

Its been a couple of days since my last post, I went down to New Paltz to see my girlfriend :). We went to go see Babel, which was an amazing movie. I was speechless for about 10 minutes after leaving the theater. I would describe it as "Foreign Policy 'Crash'". It's gonna come out on DVD in a week, definately check it out. I was completely opposed to any movie trying to better The Departed for the best picture oscar, however I couldn't be upset if Babel wins.

I read a statement from an interview with John Howard, Prime Minister from Australia, in which he states that the terrorists in Iraq are praying that Barack Obama wins the presidency in '08. This comes 2 days after Mr. Obama through his name in the ring to become the sucessor of Dub-ya. Mr. Howard is a strong supporter of the Iraq war, and of the Bush Administration. The question being presented at this point is how much credibility Mr. Howard has in this matter, seeing as he sent only 1,400 to the region. It seems as if the conservative Prime Minister wants to shake American public opinion of the Illinois junior senator, who seems to be one of the more promising candidates in the '08 race.

In my opinion, this shows that the conservative base, not just in America apparently, seems a little bit intimidated by the following of Barack Obama. Obama, who states he opposed the Iraq war from the beginning, which will be the obvious hot-button issue facing the candidates in the upcoming election. It seems like politicians are campaigning all year long as opposed to before an election. Arguments in Washington are always a partisan battle, instead of getting to the real issues. The way they debate Iraq for instance, the Democrats can't come to consensus on a plan to oppose the war, without there GOP counterparts attacking them for not supporting our troops. And the Republicans are in a battle whether to back our Commander and Chief, or support something that would have an immediate impact on their political careers. Most of those Republicans pulling away from the pro-war base are coming from districts opposed from the war, or have a large number of war casualties represented. When I'm asked about my stance on our situation on Iraq, I try to think about Bush's State of the Union address when he brought to the public attention that he received intelligence that Saddam Hussein had Weapons of Mass Destruction. He was sure about this he said, and who could blame him at the time. He had every intelligence source around him saying that the Hussein regime was an imminent threat to our national security base. In reality, George Bush, was trying to do the best thing for our country in our post-9/11 society. The American people at the time, including all the politicians in Washington, from both the left and right who voted to go to war, were on the same page at the time. The main mistake that was made was after the "Shock and Awe" bombing campaign, and we threw Saddam from power. There wasn't a proper exit strategy in place to account for the Sunni and Shiite muslims, who would then be competing for power and oil-profits. Bush decided to "Stay the course". Recently, within the last 3 weeks, six helicopters have been shot down in Iraq. Most of the American public is not aware that we have lost more US troops in Iraq than US citizens in the attack on 9/11. Technically, those numbers are higher. I once heard a media source state that if a soldier is wounded, and air-lifted to another hospital, they are not counted in the war casualty statistics. These are realities that the Bush Administration will have to live with, I just hope that the recent troop surge proposed and the change in strategy in Iraq can help bring the peace and bring our troops home.

I hope my opinion about Iraq isn't mistaken for not supporting the troops. I have a cousin right now in the Sunni Triangle, and I can only dream of having the courage that those men and women have to make that sacrifice for our country.

And that's my post, on this, the 1,4001st day since the declaration of "Mission Accomplished" in Iraq. Later!!!!

Ive recently found out that the head of Cartoon Network resigned after the episode involving the electronic devices in Boston. If you havent heard what happened, on 1/31, Boston police began receiving calls about blinking signs attached to buildings and street signs that may be wired w/ explosives. Turns out, they were circuit boards that looked like something out of a lite-brite that created the image of the Moonanite from Aqua Teen Hunger Force. It was part of a new advertising campaign, that brought everyones personal terror level to Red when they saw em. In fact, obviously the signs contained no explosives, however the people who placed the signs were brought into the station in handcuffs.

Whom do we have to blame for the overreaction of the Boston citizens. Who do we point our finger at as the subject of the paranoia. I think the media plays a part. If you turn on the Fox News Channel...o wait...its not Fox News...its the Fox Noise Channel. The reason being is that it anything but news. Its an attempt of Rupert Murdoch and Bill O'Reily to come up w/ any way to keep the American public scared of a terror threat to gain support for the War on Terror. Does it not strike anyone else as strange that Fox Noise is virtually the only media outlet left in the country still referring to the color coded system of terror levels. Like Islamic extremists will wait to attack our country cause we're in the yellow, or orange, or polka-dot, or whatever else Dub-ya decides it'll be next. Thats right, W. is "The Decider". Does that mean he gets to ignore advise from the House, the Senate, and the public opinion of America?? He sure thinks so.

And thats my post, for today, the 1,398th day since George W. Bush declared "Mission Accomplished" in Iraq. More to come, Later!!!

Woohoo Live Journal!! Wheres the poisoned Kool-aid??? I'm glad to be finally starting a blog, i've put it off too long lol. My name's Pat if you dont know me. ummm my interests include politics..movies...long walks on the beach..o wait..wrong blog haha. I enjoy playing video games and playing poker. I'll appologize in advance if my stories or rants seem to never end.

I wanted to start my first entry talking about what I heard today about one of my favorite movies. I heard that William Moynahan is writing a sequel to The Departed and approached Mark Wahlberg to star in it. He supposedly wants to cast Robert DeNiro as a politician. There was talk about writing a prequel to it as well. If you havent seen The Departed yet, why arent you in the theatre right now, what are you doing wasting your time reading this and go NOW! lol j/k but it's terrific. Ill be soo pissed if Scorsesse gets snubbed on his 1st Oscar w/ this film. Its a long time coming after making Goodfellas, Raging Bull, and Taxi Driver.

Woot the week is almost over, I'll be driving to New Paltz this weekend to visit my girlfriend. I'm sure she will try to fix up my journal so it dosen't look lame. More to come, Later!!!!
